225 miles of ultimate whitewater thrills. During 2006 the NPS changed from the waiting list system that had been in place since 1980 to a weighted lottery. Anyone can apply to this lottery but people who have not been on the river recently and those transistioning from the waiting list get extra chances in each lottery. Annual lottery for approximately five hundred launches are held once a year in February and mini-lotteries for cancellation trips or unclaimed trips are held during the year.
